Proctor checklist and exam-day responsibilities
Check access at your test site
Before the competition, confirm that students can access the following websites and use the required software on their computers and your test site's network:
- contest.usaaio.org — contest questions, answers, and submissions.
- www.usaaio.org — competition information and rules.
- Google Colab — coding tasks.
- Lateran AI — website access and installed monitoring software.
- OBS Studio — installed recording software.
Review the student schedule and rules
Read the Round 1 student schedule and rules before proctoring. Follow the required start windows, closing times, earliest departure times, restroom policy, and recording requirements for each part. All scheduled times are Eastern Time.
Check computers, software, and electronic devices
- Check each student's computer and confirm that only one monitor is in use.
- Verify that Lateran AI is enabled and that OBS records both the student's entire screen and face. These programs must remain running until the competition ends.
- Confirm that students have completed sign-in and any required two-factor authentication before the competition begins.
- Check for prohibited electronic devices: cell phones, smartwatches, smart glasses, earbuds, and other electronic devices apart from the required computer.
Prepare and collect scratch paper
- Provide blank paper for students' scratch work.
- Require students to write their name and school name on every page.
- Collect all scratch paper after each part.
Proctor accounts, test site IDs, and test site codes
- Proctors must be able to sign in to contest.usaaio.org. Proctor accounts will be activated closer to the competition date; check that you can sign in once your account is activated.
- You can find your test site ID in your proctor account.
- When the exam starts, the test site code will become visible in your account. Share this code with the students at your test site.
Monitor student activity and review temporary locks
- Your proctor account provides a real-time log of student behavior. Monitor this log during the competition.
- If a student is temporarily locked, review the activity and circumstances. Unlock the student only if you verify that the student did not cheat and that unlocking is appropriate. Otherwise, do not unlock the student.
- Permanent locks cannot be removed.
Finding a proctor or becoming a test site
- USAAIO contests must be proctored.
- PRINCIPLE: Always begin by contacting your school to ask whether a teacher, counselor, or staff member is willing to proctor the contest.
- If your school is on this list, that is ideal.
- Otherwise, once your school agrees to proctor, please contact us. We will add your school's information to our lists.
- Backup plan: If your school refuses to proctor, you may consider an outside option, such as finding a local university, library, or certified testing center, contacting Pearson, or using the National College Testing Association to find an organization that agrees to proctor.
- Once you find a new organization that agrees to proctor but is not on our lists, please email us its information. We will include it on our lists.
- For nonprofit organizations willing to proctor: If your organization is not on any list above but meets the following criteria, you are invited to apply here to become a certified test site:
- Be a U.S. nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status.
- Have a business license.
- Have proctored either the 2025 AMC 8/10A/10B/12A/12B or the 2026 F=ma.
